One of Uttarakhand's broadest high-altitude meadows, reached in four days on an easy forest trail from Raithal.

Dayara Bugyal is a meadow trek in the truest sense — a gentle four-day walk that opens onto one of the broadest alpine grasslands in Uttarakhand. Graded Easy and covering 22 kilometres, it suits beginners and anyone wanting real Himalayan scenery without technical ground. The trek starts from the picturesque village of Raithal, an eight to nine hour drive from Dehradun railway station. From there the trail climbs steadily through dense forest to the camp at Gui, gaining height from 7,150 ft to 9,600 ft. The following day is the highlight: a hike from Gui up to Dayara Bugyal at 12,000 ft, where the meadows spread out in every direction, with the option of continuing to Bakaria Top — also known as Dayara Top — for a wider panorama. With a long season running October to June, Dayara Bugyal can be walked as green summer meadow or under winter snow.

Day-wise Itinerary

1. Day 1

   Drive, Dehradun to Raithal

   • Drive 190 km
   • 8-9 hours

   Pickup: Dehradun Railway Station. Drop: Dehradun Railway Station.

   Start your journey from Dehradun

   Drive to the picturesque village of Raithal, the base camp for the trek, which is approximately an 8-9 hours journey from Dehradun.

   Check-in to a guesthouse or campsite.

   Acclimatize and enjoy the serene surroundings. Rest and prepare for the trek ahead. You can explore the local surroundings or interact with fellow trekkers

   • Pick up Time : 6:30 AM
   • Basecamp : Raithal

2. Day 2

   Trek from Raithal to Gui camp

   • Altitude Gain : 7,150 ft to 9,600 ft
   • Trek 6 km
   • 4-5 hours

   Begin your trek to Gui, a gradual ascent through dense forests. The trek offers stunning views of the Himalayas. The trek will take you through beautiful forests and scenic landscapes. Enjoy the evening in the serene wilderness. Reach Gui and stay at your camp for the night.

3. Day 3

   Trek from Gui to Dayara Bugyal and return

   • Altitude Gain : 9600 ft to 12000 ft
   • Trek 10 km Trek
   • 7-8 hrs

   Resume your trek from Gui Camp towards Chilapada. Along the way, soak in the natural beauty and capture memorable moments

   Today is an exciting day as you hike to Dayara Bugyal and Dayara Top. Start early to make the most of the day. Hike from Gui to the vast meadows of Dayara Bugyal, a high-altitude meadow renowned for its breathtaking views. Witness the breathtaking expanse of alpine meadows.

   After enjoying the scenery, Spend a day exploring the Bugyal. You can hike to Bakaria Top, also known as Dayara top for panoramic views. Enjoy the tranquility and natural beauty.

   Return to your Camp at Gui for another night.

4. Day 4

   Trek from Gui to Raithal and Drive to Dehradun

   • Altitude Loss : 9,600 ft to 7,150 ft
   • Drive 190 km
   • Trek 6 km
   • Trek 3-4 hours; drive 8-9 hours

   Drop: Dehradun Railway Station.

   Begin your descent from Gui Camp to Raithal. Upon reaching Raithal, you can freshen up.

   Drive back to Dehradun, completing your trekking adventure.

   Your journey ends as you return to Dehradun, where you can plan your next steps or departure.
